Is there an honest mattress retailer out there not looking to take advantage of it's customers? Not according to The Today Show, who just gave their "quarterly mattress shopping report." They stated that you should "never pay sticker price" for your new mattress since "mattresses have a high profit margin." Here's my delima. Isn't this "profiling?" So ALL mattress dealers are crooks? We all do business the same way? That's what they are infering. If that were true, then honest business men should stay out of the mattress business because it is only for the greedy dishonest type of business people.
The Today's Show research team simply took the easy way out and didn't do their research. That's a fact! I know of many mattress retailers that are straight shooters and don't jack their prices up and play silly 50% off discount games to get your business, but God help them, because the Today Show has cast them into the same lot as their disreputable "brothers" who prey on the poor uninformed.
Shame on The Today Show. Please, do your research before you broadcast your damaging message that labels all mattress retailers as crooks. I hope the public is smart enough to not limit their mattress shopping advice to The Today Show. The Better Sleep Council and Sleepbetter.org need to demand a public apology from the Today Show! I feel for other industrys that take the same abuse from lazy investigative reporters. Talking about overpaid and not getting your money's worth.
I want to assure all my customers that The Bed Store does not ficticiously mark up their prices so that they can offer you bogus discounts. You don't have to haggle to get the best price. Buying a new mattress can be a great experience and getting a good night's sleep doesn't have to be a war.
